Bible verse: Ephesians 4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Prayer is one of the most powerful things in life. Prayer enables us to be thankful, receive forgiveness, think of others, receive peace and comfort, be silent with God, share our hopes and dreams, vent about our hurts, and to receive hope for today and the future. If you listen to podcasts, one of the big focus areas of successful people recently has been that a large majority meditate as part of their daily routine. Wikipedia defines meditation as a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state. Prayer is an act of meditation where we focus our mind on God and others. When we pray, we not only look inward on our own lives, but also pray for loved ones, life situations, and the world around us. Prayer allows us to step away from our busy lives, turn off our devices, and spend time in God’s presence. A prayer hack I have used is to write out a prayer list and stick it on the wall or night stand. In your prayer list, include prayers for the following topics – family and friends, leaders in the church and your world, the poor and sick, and your personal needs. Take time with your family to develop a prayer list and pray for these items before bed.
