Day 19

Bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11 – I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.

One of my favorite things in life is wrestling with my kids, or throwing a baseball around with them, or playing hockey out on the lake. All four of my kids bond with me in this way. We have an old mattress on the floor in the basement to wrestle and have tickle fights on. It may not look great, but it is the most used piece of furniture in the house! We have spent countless hours wrestling, doing somersaults, having headstand competitions, and many tickle fights. Another favorite activity of our kids is setting up “the Olympics” downstairs. This typically consists of nerf gun archery, long jump, races around the basement, and much more. In Canada, we have long winters, so we are always looking for things to do! I find that all of my kid’s love being active with me and that is when we tend to laugh the most. The only thing that stops it from happening is when I am feeling lazy and I say no. When we are in excellent shape, it provides us with the energy to say yes and jump in and physically play with our kids. The other recommendation I have is to include your kids in your athletic journey as they grow older. For example, my son has done a triathlon with me, and he loved it! As your children get older be creative in ways that you can involve them in your workout activities.
