Bible verse: Proverbs 21:21 – Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
As I mentioned earlier, our family values are FAITH FAMILY ADVENTURE. It is not only important to define your family values, you also need to make them visible daily. Have a sign or a poster board created and hang your family values somewhere visible in your house where your kids walk by daily. Ensure they understand what their family believes in and develop their identity through their values. Talk through with your children why these are your family values. A favorite time for me to have these conversations with my kids is before bed. Once a month or so, as we are chilling and laying in bed, I will ask my kids point blank. What are our family values? Why are these items important in the way that we live our lives? These are the typical responses I get back. Faith is important because God loves us and created us, and we want to love him back. Family is important because we want to always take care of each other. Adventure is important because we like shooting slingshots and building forts! Our kids watch us everyday. We need to not only write down our family values and use them as a compass, we also need to ensure we are living our values each day. I encourage you to continue the conversation with your kids, ask questions, and live your family values daily.
