Day 25

Bible verse: Proverbs 3:3-4 – Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.  Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

If you are anything like me, you are exhausted by the end of the day. At the end of the day our kids are also typically tired, silly, and talkative. We tuck them in around 8pm, spend 15-30 minutes with them and then it is lights out at 9pm. Ever since our kids were born, we have committed to tucking them in and praying with them before bed. We have also used this time to memorize Bible verses they have brought home from church and memorize the Lord’s Prayer. Over the last few months, we have been reading Chronicles of Narnia before bed together as a family, which we all look forward to each night. The other cool thing I find about the bed time routine is our kids are talkative right before bed. I usually ask what their favorite part of the day was, and it is interesting to hear how they have all enjoyed different parts of the day. They also tend to ask lots of questions before bed, so it is a great time to teach them about the Bible and life in general. A typical flow for our bedtime routine is to read a chapter of Chronicles of Narnia, say the Lord’s Prayer as a family (everyone has it memorized), pray together as a family, and then tuck each of our kids in individually. Our kids are only going to be young for so many years. Take this time to have fun with them and enjoy the end of the day. Develop an epic bedtime routine for your children and be consistent daily.
