Bible verse: Psalm 144:4 – Man is like a mere breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Do you know where you are going when you die? Have you ever turned off the TV, put your phone away, sat in silence and thought… man, I am going to die one day. I am going to be buried in the ground, cremated, or thrown out to sea. What happens after that? Am I just gone? All of my worries, passions, loves, just…. pooffffffffffff. Gone. That is a scary thought. It makes my heart hurt thinking how much I will miss my family and friends. I don’t think I ever really thought about death until my Dad got sick and passed away with cancer. My Dad loved God with all his heart. He was at peace. He was scared but knew that he was going to heaven to be with God. He knew that he would see us again. Our family was lucky to all be with him when he passed. It was painful seeing the casket lowered. The whole time I was thinking that he hates being cold and we are lowering him down into the ground. I struggled with the thought of dying and why would God take my Dad away so young when he loved God so much. My heart is just beginning to heal, a number of years after he has passed. Life can be hard. Unfortunately, we are going to have many losses and hardships to deal with over our lifetimes. Whatever we are going through, we can choose to have faith that God is there for us and provides hope.
