Bible verse: 2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we live by faith, not by sight.
Do you have scripture that you recite when you are going through a difficult or a wonderful time in your life? Have you ever spent time memorizing scripture? In my life, I had memorized scripture as part of Sunday School. I took a break for 25 or so years (lol) and started to memorize scripture again when my kids started going to Sunday school. We have a simple method we use for scripture memorization. The kids will receive a sheet of paper at Sunday School with the verse on it. We get home and tape it to the wall in their bedroom. Each night for that week, we all work on memorizing the verse together. It is amazing how fast kids can memorize… it also drives competition by having the family working together to memorize the verse. As a family before bed, we have also memorized the Lord’s Prayer. Now, each night before bed we say the Lord’s Prayer, and then follow this with a prayer for the world, the people in our lives, and each other. The benefit in memorizing verses from the Bible and the Lord’s Prayer is that it gives us a foundation for our life. It reminds us of God’s promises and how God directs us to live our life. It helps us to trust in God, no matter what the day throws at us.
