Day 39

Bible verse: Deuteronomy 6:6-7 – These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

As you continue to develop good habits that energize your body and soul spend as much time outside as possible. If you are feeling distant from God, grab your Bible and journal and go sit outside. There is something about being outside that brings us closer to God. If you want to get closer to your wife, tuck your kids in and sit outside together or go for a quick walk around the block. If you want to grow closer to your kids, grab a backpack with a magnifying glass, survival kit, slingshot, jackknife, and some chow and head to the closest woods. Prioritize time with your kids exploring. Living wild and free. Every time I head out with my kids with no agenda, I am absolutely blown away with their imagination and what they notice. It typically goes like this. We head out on our bikes. I ask one of my kids to lead. They find the most off the beaten path and hit every tree root as a jump along the way. We end up by the creek. They end up throwing rocks into the creek. Soon after they jump into the creek for a swim. We try to start a fire with a magnifying glass or flint from their survival kit. They start to look for bugs by flipping rocks over. We take a break and eat all the snacks. We laugh and joke and talk about life. We jump back on our bikes dirty and head home. It is these times that I not only feel like I am growing closest with my family and I also feel young and energized. Get outside regularly to feel young, energized, and to enjoy God’s creation.
