Bible verse: Psalm 16:8 – Don’t be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights in giving you the kingdom.
One of the questions you may be asking at this point is…. Umm, what if I don’t have any money to invest? After the first week, you should have a good idea of where you are spending your money. A typical adult spends the majority of their money on lodging, transportation, and food. My recommendation is to download the Mint app (mint.com) and leverage the tools in the app to develop a simple budget and understand where the trends are in your spending. The first thing to do is to cut out any unnecessary spending… magazine subscriptions, numerous streaming services (Netflix, Crave, Disney+, etc), clothes shopping, and any other unnecessary items. The other thing to do right away is ensure you are signing up for any employee matching benefit you may have at work. For example, if you contribute 3%, your employer will contribute 3%. This is free money! There are also more drastic changes you can make in your life. These may include purchasing a duplex and renting out one side, moving closer to work so that you can walk / bike to work and save on transportation costs, purchasing “no-name” food products, and limiting eating out at restaurants. Review your expenses and determine where you may need to make lifestyle changes to save money.
Daily Guide:
Morning
- 5:30AM – Wake-up, thank God for this day prior to your feet hitting the ground
- Max out on push-ups / mountain climbers before leaving your bedroom (7 mins)
- Read your Bible or listen with audio app
Lunch Break
- Order The Little Book of Common Sense Investing (John C. Bogle) from your library and begin reading / listening at once
- Walk/run min of 2KM
Evening
- Tell your wife that you love her and give her a big kiss on the lips
- Pray with kids before bed
- 10PM – Lights out
